Got Bowls? Wood Crafting by Don West, Photos by Wayne West Bowl In Progress - Grapefruit |
page 1 of 2 |
The final product bears no resemblance to the initial source, this holds especially true for wood bowls. This is a series of photographs that shows the transformation from a raw hunk of wood into an amazing final product. The first shows Don applying standard superglue to a piece after the initial turning which takes a raw piece and gives it the initial round shape. This particular piece, grapefruit, was badly cracked throughout the wood and Don was hoping that the heavy use of superglue would help keep the piece together during subsequent turning. It was glued, allowed to sit overnight, and the effectiveness of this treatment can be judged in later photographs.
